The 11th annual MBTS Cardboard Boat Regatta was this past Columbus Day weekend and had 18 boat entries with 21 fierce competitors and over 400 spectators. It was clearly one of the best MBTS events to date where the creativity and cunningness of the locals was matched only by the beautiful New England fall weather on the inner harbor! What an incredible day!
Congratulations to Chris Langathianos for retaining his title and coming in FIRST PLACE with a time of 1 minute 18 seconds!!!
The first place Kid’s Division (and third place overall) goes to Jackson Bartlett & Noah Brown with a time of 1 minute 40 seconds.
This year’s Best Design & Crowd Favorite goes to Rebecca Sollosy Niche as she paddled her colorful Emotional Seapport Clown Boat bringing in 198 votes!!
THANK YOU to our wonderful community for making this happen - Thank you to those who made a boat and to those that came out to watch to cheer on the paddlers - it’s only fun because of everyone’s participation!!
Shout out to Sweetwater & Company and Captain Dusty's Ice Cream for the prizes, Virginia Leach Townsend for the plaques, Carlson Orchards for their spicy apple cardboard, Scott Bumpus and Seaside Cycle for their cardboard and support, Lisa Martinez and Chris Williams for volunteering and being the best time keepers, Barn Dog Daycamp and Peter Hoare for Safety Boat, Chris Langathianos for the sound system, John and Paula Filias and Jeffries Creek for the dump trailer, Kristie Sadler and the Legion for being such a huge support - great open house!! And last but not least, thank you to the Manchester Harbormasters Bion and Mike, and Town of Manchester!
