| REIGNING CHAMP, Chris Langathanios |
This weekend marked
Manchester’s 10th Cardboard Boat Regatta on the inner harbor which brought
out a huge crowd of over 300 cheering spectators and fans. This
hilariously-fun family event hosted by Team BioFuel brought out 21 competitors
who raced boats that they made entirely out of cardboard and duct tape.
Many creative favorites as part of this year’s boat line up were: Reese’s
Musical Spaceship, 100% Recycled, Jackson 8, Sponge Boat Square
Pants, and River Cats. The reigning champion, local Chris Langathianos,
took home first place again this year with a time of 1:08 minutes in his Kim
Jun DEUX boat while newcomer Zach Carvalho had blazing speed, picking off most
of the adult competitors to win first place in the kid’s division and third
overall with his Sink Oar Swim Boat.
A HUGE thanks goes out to Captain Dusty’s Ice Cream, Jeffrey's Creek Landscaping, The American Legion, the Manchester by-the-Sea Harbormasters, Peter Hoare, Chris Thomas, Lisa Martinez and Chris Williams for making this race such a fantastic event again this year!
